Team India’s head coach Ravi Shastri, who was re-appointed, is expected to receive a huge pay hike in a new contract that has been signed. The head coach is about to receive a 20% hike that takes his annual salary close to Rs 9.5-10 crore. Shastri was receiving Rs 8 crore as his annual salary until this new contact came into existence.
The new contracts that will come into effect from September 1, have also been signed by bowling coach Bharat Arun and fielding coach R Sridhar who will be receiving around Rs 3.5 crore per annum, batting coach Vikram Rathour who has stepped into the shoes of Sanjay Bangar will now earn close to Rs 2.5-3 crore.
Speaking to media after his re-appointment, the head coach said, “The reason why I came in here is the belief I had in this team, the belief that they could leave a legacy which very few teams have left behind which other teams going down will try and emulate.” Shastri further added, “You’ve got to learn from your mistakes, nobody is perfect. When you strive for excellence and strive to raise the bar then you have to pay attention to detail.”
