In a unique method to increase efficiency among the Zila Parishads, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Tuesday announced that he would be offering an award of Rs 10 crore to the Zila Parishad which performs beyond the set parameters.
KCR added that in case all the 32 Zila Parishad perform beyond expectations a total amount of Rs 320 crores will be awarded to each Parishad from the CM fund. KCR made this announcement at a meeting held with all the newly elected 32 ZP Chairmen in Hyderabad.
“Recently, when I met the fifteenth Finance Commission chairman, I have explained the ZP system in the State. I told the FFC that Telangana gave the minister of state rank to ZP chairpersons and urged the FCC to give funds to ZPs. The FCC chairman responded positively...All power as per the constitution will be devolved to the ZPs,"
TRS in the recently held local body polls had secured a comfortable victory in all the 32 Zila Parishad and KCR termed this victory as a show of faith from people. KCR asked the ZP Chairmen to act responsibly and give their best to take their respective local governing bodies to greater heights. He directed everyone present at the meeting to treat all the visitors to the ZP offices with utmost respect.
Each of the ZP Chairman was also offered with a car by the Telangana Government.
