Criticising Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy over the launch of the farmer welfare scheme 'YSR Rythu Bharosa', former IT Minister Nara Lokesh hit out at the government for its failures and termed the scheme as 'YSR Rythu Nirasha'.
Lokesh pointed out at government going back on its poll promise where they had promised Rs 12,500 but in reality, an amount much lesser was being given to the farmers.
"In the election promises, Rs 12,500 was promised under Rythu Bharosa. But now they’ve done reverse tendering for farmers by reducing the amount to Rs 7,500," tweeted Lokesh.
YSR Rythu Bharosa was one among the nine promises, 'Navratnalu' made by YSRCP during the elections. The scheme offeres a cash incentive for farm inputs for the farmers in the state. The total incentive was increased to Rs 13,500 from Rs 12,500 and the scheme period was extended from 4 years to 5 years. TDP’s criticism stems from the fact that Rs 6,000 from the total amount comes from the Centre under the PM KISAN Yojana scheme.
Lokesh also said that the government had let down landless tenant farmers from the Open Category, or upper caste farmers, who were not covered under the scheme. The scheme covers landholding farmers who own up to 5 acres of land, and tenant farmers from SC, ST, BC and minority communities.
