In the late hours of Tuesday night, some unidentified people allegedly vandalized a statue of Dr. Ambedkar in the outskirts of Vishakhapatnam.
The incident happened in Pedagantyada in AP where parts of the nose and an ear was missing from the statue of Dr. Ambedkar.
The complaint was raised by G Gurumurthy who is a resident of Babu Jagjivan Ram Welfare Society. The accused are currently at large.
The incident happened on the eve of Dr. Ambedkar's death Anniversary and this had sparked protests in the area where locals wanted justice on the spot for which they shouted slogans.
A case under the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Act of 1989 has been filed.
The case which is being supervised by a DSP and he said that the case is still under investigation, the motive is unknown and we would release further details soon.
This is the second case of this kind in this year. Earlier, a statute of Dr. Ambedkar was demolished in Keshanakuru, a village in East Godavari.
Many such cases have been registered over the years in AP where people have vandalized statues just to create tension in the region.
