Root of Troubles for Yanamala

A Government Order (G.O) released recently on medical claim reimbursement of Andhra Pradesh’s Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu has triggered a row.

As per a G.O issued on 23rd August, the concerned authorities have been directed to reimburse the medical claims raised by Yanamala for an amount of Rs 2.88 lakh. Yanamala, one of the senior most leaders of TDP was in Singapore recently to undergo treatment for his root canal at Azure Dental which caused the expenditure.

The release of this G.O has created a controversy with people questioning Yanamala’s need to travel to Singapore for something as simple as a root canal treatment. A section of people even accused the government of hypocrisy and called the move insensitive especially when the CM is claiming the state to be cash strapped.

Speaking to the media, TDP Spokesperson Lanka Dinakar accused the rivals of foul play and called the whole controversy unnecessary. Defending Yanamala, Dinakar said that the Finance Minister had undergone treatment at a hospital in Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad and the Singapore trip was merely a personal one.

“As he couldn’t complete the operation due to a time constraint and faced unbearable pain, he went for medical treatment in Singapore, where costs for treatment are high. Ramakrishnudu went to Singapore with the commitment to discharge his duties on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh government,” said Dinakar.
