The Andhra Pradesh government has sanctioned an amount of Rs 264.99 crores for about 3.5 lakh depositors in the AgriGold scam victims. The move has come in as a piece of good news for a number of people who lost crores of their savings in the multi-crore scam. Relief and justice to AgriGold victims was one of the main promises of Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy during his election campaigning.

The AgriGold scam has also seen heated exchanges between the two main parties of Andhra Pradesh, TDP and YSRCP on multiple occasions in the state assembly. Around 200 people have lost their lives due to the scam with victims belonging to Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka and Kerala.

Jagan, during his Prajasankalapa yatra, had promised that he would support the depositors of AgriGold who lost their money by investing in the company. At the time, he had assured that his government would give Rs 1150 crore for those who have deposits below Rs 20,000.

The district collectors have already submitted the details of depositors with below Rs 10,000. About Rs 14,09,41,615 is allocated for 19,751 victims in Guntur; Rs 5,81,17,100 for 8,257 victims in Chittoor; Rs 11,46,87,619 for 19,545 victims in East Godavari; Rs 23,05,98,695 for 35,496 victims in West Godavari; Rs 36,97,96,900 for 57,941 victims in Vijayanagaram; Rs 31,41,59,741 for 45,833 victims in Srikakulam district; Rs 11,14,83,494 for 15,705 victims in Kurnool; Rs 16,91,74,466 for 24,390 victims in Nellore; Rs 15,04,77,760 for 21,444 victims in Krishna district; Rs 20,64,21,009 for 23,838 victims in Anantapur; Rs 13,18,06,875 for 18,864 victims in YSR Kadapa; Rs 19,11,50,904 for 26,586 victims in Prakasam; Rs 45,10,85,805 for 52,005 victims in Visakhapatnam.
