A major political storm seems to be brewing in the YSRCP's camp over the allocation of Vijaywada Central ticket for the upcoming assembly elections in the state. According to reports, supporters from Vangaveeti Radha's camp are unhappy with the rise in the ranks of Malladi Vishnu within the party. The rumours over the party allocating Vijaywada Central ticket which has been a traditional bastion for Vangaveeti family has not helped the case either.
Incidentally, Radha had earlier contested from the central assembly seat in 2009 and 2014 on Praja Rajyam and YSRCP tickets respectively only to face defeat. Malladi Vishnu who joined YSRCP earlier last year was made the constituency's co-ordinator irking Vangaveeti fans. Radha, this time around is determined to prove his mettle in the constituency despite his losses.
As per reports, Radha was also offered Vijaywada East assembly constituency and Machilipatnam parliament seat as a compensation. However, Radha refused both as he wants to reclaim the seat he lost in 2009.
The dissent started growing in Vangaveeti camp back in September when the Vangaveeti followers staged a protest in front of the statue of Vangaveeti Mohan Ranga Rao demanding YSRCP to not grant the seat to Vishnu. The protest turned voilent and stopped only on Radha's intervention.
During a recent event commemorating his father's death anniversary, Radha said, “Not for one caste, one religion, one party but we stand by all who have believed in Ranga. Definitely we will take the suggestions and blessings of Ranga's fans and take future steps", hinting at a possible move to Janasena party.
