N Chandrababu Naidu had resigned as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister on Thursday evening as his party Telugu Desam was defeated in the assembly elections held on April 11th. He sent his resignation letter to Governor ESL Narasimhan and the latter accepted the resignation and asked to continue in the post till the further arrangements are made.

The counting of the votes in AP on Thursday handed over severe drubbing to TDP in the hands of YSRCP. While YSRCP has already won 101 seats and is leading in 48 seats by 06.10 am in the evening, TDP won in only 17 seats and is leading in just eight assembly constituencies by then.

Chandrababu Naidu spoke in a press conference after he sent his resignation and accepted the verdict of the people in this assembly election. He congratulated YSRCP chief Jaganmohan Reddy and Naveen Patnaik who won elections for assemblies of AP, Odisha. He congratulated PM Narendra Modi for his win in Loksabha elections. He said that the party will review the defeat and will chalk out the future course of action.
