A truck carrying beer bottles in Kurnool in Andhra Pradesh caught fire on Monday burning the whole load it was carrying. Police are suspecting the heat from the engine to have started the fire which burnt down the entire stock worth Rs 15 lakh.
On observing the fire at the back, the driver immediately pulled over and escaped with minor burn injuries while the glass bottles went on to burn to send glass pieces flying in every direction. The driver is being treated at a local government hospital in Kurnool.
The prohibition and excise officials informed that the truck was carrying 15,600 beer bottles in 1300 cartons and the fire caused a loss of Rs 15 lakh in goods. The truck was coming from Hyderabad after picking up the stock from a distillery in Sangareddy.
With rising temperatures in the state, vehicles are exposed to the risk of catching fire if proper precautions are not taken. This is not the first of such incidents this year, earlier this year 60 vehicles parked at the Aero Expo show in Bangalore were burnt completely beyond recognition leaving the owners helpless.
