With a goal to review every single decision taken by his predecessor Chandrababu Naidu, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy has constituted a sub-committee. This subcommittee will constitute of 5 ministers who will review every deal, decision, policy project and transactions that were approved by Chandrababu Naidu during the last 5 years.
A Government Order was issued which set up the terms of reference for the subcommittee. The G.O stated that the government during the last 5 years was charecterised by the unbridled corruption and ruthless exploitation of natural resources. The previous regime has pushed the state back to dark ages caused serious damage to the natural resources and created economic exploitation along with politicisation of the state machinery.
The sub committee will find out any discrepancies in the financial transactions along with errors in policies that caused a loss to the state. Based on the findings of the sub-committee, the government will decide on the appropriate legal route. The G.O gave 13 terms of references to the committee along with a power to question any individual regardless of his position. This includes former secretaries, legislators and ministers as well.
All the contracts , Letter of Intent, Memorum of Understanding, Policy Material, White Papers along with Terms of Conditions of all the agencies that the Government was associated with during the last five years will be scrutinised and thoroughly reviewed. During the last five years, major works related to the Polavaram Project and Capital Region Develpment Authority (CRDA) along with works on airports, highways and roads were undertaken. All the necessary documents and audits will be conducted to find out discrepancies if any.
Interestingly, special focus has been set on the works related to the IT Ministry of which Naidu's son, Nara Lokesh was incharge. The sub committee is expected to start with the complete audit of all the MoUs and dealings related to the IT department. Incidentally, former Chief Minister of Tamilnadu M Karunanidhi had constituted a similar committee to find out about all the dealings during Jayalalithaa's tenure and several cases against her and her followers were filed on various counts of corruption.
Finance Minister, B Rajendranath Reddy, Panchayat Raj Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy IT Minister M Gautam Reddy, Agriculture and Coopertaion Minister K Kanna Babu and Irrigation Minister Anil Kumar Yadav along with Special Chief Secretary Manmohan Singh will be a part of this sub- committee.
