In another blow to Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Devineni Avinash, the president of 'Telugu Yuvata' the party's youth wing, quit the party and joined YSRCP. Speaking to the media, Avinash said that he and his followers chose to join the Jaganmohan Reddy led YSRCP as he was dissatisfied with not getting any recognition in TDP.
Avinash joined YSRCP in the presence of Jaganmohan Reddy at the latter's camp office on Thursday. Incidentally, while Avinash moved from TDP to YSRCP, TDP President Chandrababu Naidu was in the middle of a day-long fast against the YSRCP government for its mismanagement of sand stock in the state.
Avinash, who hails from a prominent family of politicians in the state, had recently contested from the Gudivada constituency but failed to win the seat.
It is being reported that Avinash chose to switch sides despite Devineni Uma, his uncle, requesting him to stay in the party.
Meanwhile, Gannavaram MLA Vallabhaneni Vamsi, who had submitted his resignation from the TDP a few days ago, also said that he would be backing the YSRCP.
As CM Jagan had already declared that his party would not accept any defecting legislators unless they resigned, it remains unclear whether Vamsi would join the YSRCP or support it from outside.
