MG hector beats Jeep Compass and XUV 500!

At present in the Indian market, the mid-size SUV segment is the most competitive one. With the launch of MG Hector and Kia Seltos, the competition has got even tighter and the usual frontrunners like XUV 500 and Jeep Compass are facing the impact. Tata Harrier, in particular, saw a major slump in sales and dropped to the third position from the first position that it held in the first quarter of 2019.

The arrival of Hector has taken the industry by storm and in the very first month, this British beast has topped the sales with 1508 units being sold contributing around 37 percent of the total sales. Compared to this Mahindra's XUV 500 has managed to sell only 1100 units with Tata's Harrier showing a dismal performance with a 40% decline in sales. This steep decline can be seen as a result of the Hector, which became an instant favorite certainly due to its high value for money proposition.

Jeep Compass and Tata Hexa have also seen an impact of MG Hector and have seen their sales fall down due to the arrival of their new competitor. The SUV segment is expected to see fiercer competition in the coming days with the launch of Kia Seltos in the market. And if the features and initial reviews of the Korean company's Seltos are anything to go by, even MG Hector might lag behind the KIA's SUV in the coming days.
